Know Jesus

Know Jesus

The problem. We are all born enemies of God. There is no one who does good, not even one. No one seeks after God. We were born rebels. We naturally want our own little kingdom, our own selfish way, and God calls that sin. We are all dead in our sin without Jesus.

The solution. But God, because of his great mercy and the great love he has for his people, gave his son, Jesus Christ, to suffer on a cross to bear God’s just wrath for sin in our place. After three days, Jesus rose again, crushing sin and death in victory over the grave so that we can experience abundant life and peace with God.

The response. Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Life and truth are found in Jesus. When we acknowledge our great need for a Savior, and we place our trust in Jesus for life and truth, we receive forgiveness of sin and reconciliation with God.

Steps to Peace

Jesus Christ lived 2000 years ago and claimed to be the Son of God. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (Read it in John 14:6.) That means everyone isn’t going to heaven, as you may have heard. Only those who believe Jesus is who he claimed to be will live in heaven forever.

The bottom line is we were born rebels. We naturally want our own little kingdom, our own selfish way, but God calls that sin. As Jesus said, life and truth are with him. We can’t have that and sin too. So Jesus paid the price for our sin with his life and death on a cross.

Because that price has been paid, we can have life and peace with God when we surrender control of our lives to him. “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved… Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame” (Romans 10:9,11).
